Paid content terms

These terms apply to authors who sell articles on Muhamor and to readers who buy them. They add to the terms of use.

1. Who can sell articles

• Only trusted authors (level L3) with no sanctions in the last 90 days.
• Before the first paid article you complete payout verification (KYC) with our payment provider, Stripe. Without it an article can only be free.
• Payouts are only possible to countries supported by Stripe Connect. Authors from countries without support (including RU) cannot sell articles.
• An author can publish at most 3 paid articles per week.

2. Price and teaser

• Price from $1 to $20 in steps of $1.
• Every paid article has a free teaser: the title, a description and at least 20% of the text (no less than 500 characters), so readers know what they are paying for.
• Search engines and readers without access see exactly the same teaser. The paid part is marked as paywalled content; we never show search engines more than readers.

3. Review before publication

Each paid article is reviewed by a moderator within 48 hours. We decline an article if:

• the text is not original: an automated similarity check against the internet and our publications finds 30% or more matching text (we may also ask for sources);
• the paid part is empty or padded: less than 2000 characters without media, or clearly generated without your own experience;
• the teaser misleads: the paid part does not contain what the teaser promises;
• it gives dangerous medical, financial or legal advice without caveats and sources;
• it breaks the community rules.

If an article is declined, we tell you why. You can fix it or publish it for free.

4. Earnings and payouts

You are responsible for your own taxes. Where the law requires it (for example under the EU DAC7 rules), we report sellers' income to the Estonian Tax and Customs Board and collect the data needed for that.

5. Unlocking with points

• Readers can unlock a paid article with points at 100 points per $1 of the price.
• The author earns the same amount as for a regular purchase; the platform pays it from a limited monthly budget. When the budget is used up, unlocking with points pauses until the next month, and the site says so.
• One reader can unlock at most 5 articles with points per month.

6. Refunds and complaints

• A buyer can ask for a refund within 24 hours if the article does not match its teaser. A moderator checks the complaint; if it is confirmed, the buyer gets the money back and the author's earning for that sale is cancelled. Abuse of refunds is tracked.
• If a rights holder complains about an article, it is hidden until the complaint is resolved and payouts for it are frozen.

7. Rights

You keep the copyright. You grant us the licence described in the terms of use, including the right to show the paid part to readers who bought or unlocked it and to machine translate it for them. Buyers may read the article for personal use only and may not republish it.
